JAMMU, Oct 8: Demanding regularization of their services and release of their pending wages, a large number of Daily Wagers (DWs) from various departments and areas, staged a massive protest, here today.
All Daily wagers under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Sangarsh Samiti were protesting in support of their demands of regularization and release of their long pending wages.
They said, “The Jammu and Kashmir Government has failed to fulfill their commitment, made with the DWs. They failed to release our pending wages of about 84 months. Despite assurances given by the Government, we are waiting to get regularize in various departments.”
Talking to media-persons here today, one of the Union leaders said that hapless workers are on strike, demanding release of their pending wages, implementation of minimum wages act and regularization of ASHA workers and their services.
“Despite several rounds of talks with higher authorities in the Department, our issues could not be resolved. Moreover, the assurances by senior Government officials did not yield any results. The leaders of NC and Congress had assured us about the regularization of our services during elections. Now, despite the passage of more than a year, nothing has been done in this regard, we want to remind to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the Congress leaders to keep provision for regularize all the daily wagers and release their salaries.”
The daily wagers from various parts of Jammu division including Akhnoor, Nowshera, Samba, Udhampur, Reasi, Kathua etc participated in today’s protest program.
