JAMMU, Oct 8: The 7th Fazil Abbas Memorial Inter-Department Volleyball Tournament concluded at Government Polytechnic College, Bikram Chowk, here today. The tournament is held annually in memory of Late Fazil Abbas, a former student known for his excellence in academics and volleyball, who passed away in an unfortunate accident.
In the first Semi-final of the tournament, the Computer Engineering Department trounced the Electrical Department team by 2-1 in a hotly contested match (25-21, 23-25 & 15-12). Ramnik Singh 5th Semester of Electrical Department displayed a good show.
In the second semi-final match Mechanical Engineering Department gave a good fight to the Automobile team and won this match by 2-1 (25-21, 23-25) and 15-10. In the final match Electrical Engineering Department beat Mechanical Engineering Department in a very close contest and lift the trophy.
Matches were officiated by National Volleyball Referee Naresh Sharma, along with Chamel Singh (PEM), Harjot Kour and Toshi Devi (PET). Talet Mahmood congratulated Sanjay Gupta (HoD Electrical) and Raj Kumar (HoD Mechanical) for their teams’ performances.
Amit Kumar Sharma, Incharge HoD Travel & Tourism, delivered the vote of thanks. Other dignitaries included Raj Shekhar, Sukhdeep Singh, Sanjay Koul, Rani Devi, P.K. Angral, Amit Gupta, Ashok Verma, Rakesh Khullar, Sandeep Verma and Vicky Sharma (Sports Secretary).
