JAMMU, Oct 8: In a major boost to social infrastructure and public welfare, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power, today completed two major projects of immense public importance in Jammu Province.
The initiatives reaffirm POWERGRID’s commitment to community development and improving essential amenities in education, hygiene and healthcare sectors.
In the first event held at PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Nud Samba, POWERGRID dedicated four ultra-modern toilet blocks comprising a total of 16 toilets to the school.
The facilities were handed over by Tarun Bajaj, Executive Director, POWERGRID, Northern Region-II, and Jasbir Singh, Executive Director, CC-CSR, POWERGRID, to Dr D S Saklani, vice principal, JNV, in the presence of senior officers.
The project, executed through JKPCC/JKPWD at an estimated cost of Rs 30 lakh under POWERGRID’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, aims to provide improved sanitation facilities and promote health and hygiene awareness among students.
In another landmark CSR project, POWERGRID handed over a 128 Slice CT Scan Machine to the Government Medical College (GMC), Kathua and its associated hospital to strengthen healthcare delivery in the region.
The advanced diagnostic machine, valued at approximately Rs 7 crore, was handed over by Tarun Bajaj and Jasbir Singh to Dr Surinder K Atri, principal, GMC Kathua, in the presence of Rajesh Sharma, deputy Commissioner, Kathua, senior POWERGRID officials and members of the medical fraternity.
Under its CSR mandate, POWERGRID continues to prioritize initiatives in education, health, sanitation and community development.
Over the past three years, the corporation has implemented several projects worth Rs 31 crore in Jammu Province alone, furthering its mission of inclusive and sustainable growth.
