Hotel & restaurant among six commercial structures damaged in landslide

UDHAMPUR, Oct 12: A hotel building and restaurant among several commercial structures were completely damaged in a major landslide at Narsoo market in Samroli area along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, here this morning.

The landslide struck the Narsoo market around 11.30 am, resulting in damage to a recently opened hotel building, restaurant and a couple of shops.
However, there was no loss of life or injuries to anyone as all the buildings in the market area were evacuated before the landslide struck and destroyed the structures, including Chenab Sweets & Restaurant, Amritsar Haveli and four shops.
The landslides completely collapsed the building, housing recently started Haveli Restaurant and Hotel. However the District Administration had got the buildings evacuated when the nearby highway got damaged following recent rains.
The incident triggered panic in the area with people in the vicinity seen running here and there. Relief and rescue operations were immediately launched by the Police and district administration.
Even as the district administration is still assessing the total loss, sources said that property worth crores of rupees was damaged in the incident.
Reports said that these damaged commercial structures belonged to Imtiaz Ahmad Shan of Gool, Zareena Begum, Shahida Begum of Ramban, Sakina Begum of Reasi and Anaya Begum.
