BENGALURU, Oct 13: The central government, in collaboration with the youth initiative “Jagrut Yuv Samuh,” will undertake a nationwide “Ekta Walk” to spread awareness among youth about Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, BJP State General Secretary Preetham Gowda announced today.
initiative will include foot marches in every Lok Sabha constituency.
Addressing a press conference here, Gowda said there is a perception among the public that governments have not effectively conveyed information about Sardar Patel’s contributions to the younger generation.
“A national foot march will be the culmination of this initiative,” he said.
Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the programme on October 6. The central government has decided to organise several competitions as part of the campaign, including essay competitions and opportunities for creating short reels on Sardar Patel’s achievements, which will be uploaded to the My Bharat portal.
The marches are scheduled from October 31 to November 25, covering distances of 8 to 10 km in each Lok Sabha constituency. Members of Parliament, legislators, and elected representatives are expected to participate.
Discussions and debates will also be held on Patel’s life and ideals.
We aim to explain to the public why Patel is considered a unifying force in society and highlight his journey from a farmer leader to a nation-builder,” Gowda said.
The initiative will also include Swadeshi pledge ceremonies, local Swadeshi fairs, yoga and health camps, and street plays in malls and parks to engage students and youth with Sardar Patel’s life.
Gowda described Patel as the architect of the foundation for a developed India 2047, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and emphasised that numerous programmes would raise awareness about his unifying efforts.
Five winning youth participants will be given the opportunity to join the national foot march. BJP State Secretary Vinay Bidare and former Youth Morcha State General Secretary Dr. Mallikarjun Balekayi were present at the event.
