JAMMU, Oct 16: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Minister, Bali Bhagat today strongly criticized the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference (NC) Government for failing to ensure development in the Jammu region, despite substantial funds sanctioned by the Central Government.
Addressing media representatives, Bhagat alleged that crores of rupees had been allocated for various developmental projects in Jammu, but no tangible progress is visible on the ground. He expressed concern that the NC Government had repeatedly ignored the pressing needs of Jammu, prioritizing other regions instead of ensuring equitable distribution of resources.
Bhagat said, “It is unfortunate that even after sanctioning huge funds by the Central Government, the people of Jammu are yet to witness meaningful development. Roads remain in poor condition, public infrastructure is inadequate, and projects sanctioned years ago have yet to see the light of day. The NC Government has completely neglected Jammu, and this bias is affecting the region’s growth and prosperity.”
He further alleged that the lack of transparency and accountability in the NC Government had resulted in funds being underutilized or mismanaged. “Jammu has the potential to become a major hub of economic and social development, but the present NC Government has failed miserably. People of Jammu deserve to see the benefits of the sanctioned projects, and not just promises on paper,” Bhagat added.
The senior BJP leader also urged the Central Government to closely monitor the utilization of funds in Jammu and ensure that projects sanctioned for the region are completed on time.
He emphasized the need for prompt action to prevent further delay in infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and other essential public services.
Bhagat warned that the people of Jammu will not remain silent if the NC Government continues to ignore the region’s development needs. He called for immediate accountability and execution of sanctioned projects to restore faith in governance and ensure balanced growth across Jammu & Kashmir.
