Leh, Oct 17: The District Magistrate of Leh, Romil Singh Donk, has imposed restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023 following reports of a possible disturbance to public peace and order in the district.
The order prohibits rallies, processions, and public gatherings of five or more persons without prior permission from the competent authority.
It also restricts the use of loudspeakers and public statements that may disturb tranquillity or incite unrest.
The restrictions, issued in the interest of maintaining law and order, will remain in force within the jurisdiction of Tehsil Leh, and violations will invite punitive action under Section 223 of BNSS 2023.
