4 held for bid to smuggle bovine animals

RAJOURI, Oct 17: The police apprehended four accused persons for their attempt to smuggle bovine animals to Kashmir via Mughal road in Manjakote area of Rajouri today.
Reports said during the intervening night, a special naka was laid by the Police team from Police Station Manjakote led by SHO Manjakote, Insp Imran Khan under the overall supervision of SDPO Manjakote, Shahid Nahiem, near TRC Kalaban.
During checking, a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK11B-4673 was intercepted by the police team.
On checking of the vehicle, five bovine animals were found to be loaded illegally for transportation to Kashmir. The police immediately apprehended the persons involved in the illegal act. They were identified as Iftikhar Ahmed, son of Mohd Munshi, resident of Naili Manjakote (driver); Shoket Khan, son of Mohd Rashid, resident of Sangiot; Mohd Shafiq, son of Mohd Shabir, resident of Naili, Manjakote and Adil Raouf, son of Mohd Raouf, resident of Bhatadurian, Mendhar.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 93/2025 under section 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Manjakote. Further investigation into the matter is in progress.
