JAMMU, Oct 19: Jammu Police have cracked two major drug networks and arrested eight accused persons, including women peddlers, with heroin worth crores.
A police spokesman said today that drug rackets were busted in Rajeev Nagar (Bahu Fort) and RS Pura areas, leading to significant narcotics recoveries and the arrest of five drug peddlers so far, including some hardcore and chronic offenders.
The achievements highlighted Jammu Police’s relentless efforts, teamwork, and professionalism in curbing drug networks and ensuring one more step towards ensuring drug free society. Meanwhile, police also achieved a major success by busting a heroin supply chain and arresting two persons with 330 grams of narcotics and cash proceeds of crime.
During investigation, police arrested one Vishal Kumar of Rajiv Nagar, Narwal from near Wave Mall. Upon search, 275 grams of heroin and electronic weighing machine were recovered from his possession, they said. During interrogation, the accused disclosed that he procured the contraband from Reena of Rajiv Nagar, Narwal and acting promptly, a police team accompanied by Naib Tehsildar Bahu Fort, conducted a search at her residence and recovered 55 grams of heroin, another weighing machine, and Rs 33,490 cash and accordingly she was arrested in Backward Linkage with recovery of 55 grams heroin, one weighing machine and cash.
Besides, three more were arrested in linkage with recovery of 13 grams of heroin and two weighing machine and cash of Rs 3050. Police further stated that they achieved a significant breakthrough by apprehending three drug peddlers and recovering 186 grams of heroin in Chak Talab area of R S Pura.
Three arrested persons were identified as Inderjeet of Gandhi Camp, Tehsil Batala, District Gurdaspur, Punjab, Vishal Kumar of Sagarpur Tehsil Batala, District Gurdaspur, Punjab and Jagdish Raj of Chak Talab, Tehsil R.S Pura District Jammu.
Upon search, police recovered approximately 186 grams of Heroin from their possession, they said. The Jammu Police remains committed to its mission of eradicating the drug menace from society and has urged the public to come forward with any information related to drug peddling or suspicious activities in their respective areas, said a senior police officer. He appealed to the public to cooperate in the campaign against drugs and to share any information that can help build a drug-free society. (Agencies)
