JAMMU, Oct 20: In an exciting match at MA Stadium Jammu, Veterans Cricket Association J&K XI (VCAJK XI) defeated GS Cricket Club (GS CC) by 17 runs in a closely fought contest. After winning the toss, GS CC captain Sahil Sudan chose to field first and struck early by dismissing Aneesh for 11.
However, VCAJK XI’s Rafiq and Nazar steadied the innings, with Rafiq scoring a quick 31 and Nazar contributing 46 runs. A vital 48-run partnership between captain Vivek Suri and Nazar helped set a competitive total of 153 runs in 20 overs. Sahil Sudan was the pick of the bowlers, taking 6 wickets.
Chasing 154, GS CC got off to a strong start with Sunny scoring 30 and Vijay playing a resilient knock of 46. Despite their efforts, wickets fell regularly due to disciplined bowling and sharp fielding from VCAJK XI. Captain Vivek Suri’s two crucial run-outs shifted momentum in his team’s favour.
GS CC finished at 136 for 9, falling short by 17 runs. Vivek Suri was awarded Man of the Match for his all-round performance with bat, ball and in the field.
