Apple starts shipping AI servers from the Houston factory

NEW DELHI, Oct 25: Cupertino-based tech giant Apple has started shipping artificial intelligence (AI) servers, which are built in its Houston facility.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) servers are specialized, high-performance computing systems that are specially designed to handle the intense processing demands of AI and machine learning workloads.
Apple CEO Tim Cook posted on X, “Apple’s American-made advanced servers are now shipping from our new Houston facility to Apple data centers! These servers will help power Private Cloud Compute and Apple Intelligence, as part of our USD 600 billion US commitment.”
Basically, American-made advanced servers are defined by their built-in functionalities to tackle high-performance workloads. A core focus of US manufacturers is end-to-end security features and hardware-level protection.
These servers include a silicon-based ‘Root of Trust’ that authenticates the firmware during boot-up. This also deals with unauthorized access and tackling firmware attacks.
Applauding Apple’s team, Sabih Khan, COO of Apple, said in a statement, ” Our teams have done an incredible job accelerating work to get the new Houston factory up and running ahead of schedule, and we plan to continue expanding the facility to increase production next year.”
Earlier in August, Apple announced its USD 600 billion commitment, which included an ambitious American Manufacturing Program (AMP), which is dedicated to bring even more of Apple’s supply chain and advanced manufacturing to the United States.
The tech giant aimed to increase its investment across America and incentivize global companies to manufacture even more critical components in the United States.
