BSP urges Omar Govt to create jobs for semi-literate idle youth

JAMMU, Oct 26: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of BSP has urged the Government led by Omar Abdullah to take immediate and concrete steps for employment generation through rural and urban industrialization.
BSP JKUT president Darshan Rana stated that economic upliftment of both women and men is essential to build a self-reliant and balanced society. He emphasised that industries in both rural and urban areas must be developed to provide daily wage and regular work opportunities, particularly for those who are illiterate or semi-literate and lack access to higher education.
Rana expressed deep concern that in many parts of Jammu, both youth and elders — males as well as females — remain idle and unemployed, leading to financial hardship and social imbalance. He remarked, “For genuine progress, rural and urban industrialisation is a must. Unfortunately, nothing of that sort is being seen on the ground. The Government must act swiftly to create real, visible employment avenues for the common people.”
Emphasising that the issue should not be politicised, he added, “There should be Niti (policy), not Rajniti (politics). Employment is not a matter of politics — it is a matter of people’s dignity and survival.”
The BSP appealed to the Omar Abdullah Government to launch special employment schemes and industrial development programmes focusing on skill training, small-scale industries, and cottage units that can absorb illiterate and semi-literate men and women in both rural and urban areas.
The party reaffirmed that economic empowerment of every section of society — especially the poor, unemployed, and unskilled, is the foundation of a peaceful, progressive, and self-reliant Jammu & Kashmir.
