When the river recorded its highest-ever discharge this year, the city stood safe, unlike the devastation of 2014. The diaphragm wall and robust flood protection design not only saved lives and property but also instilled confidence among the people.
This achievement is a testimony to vision, planning, and strong administrative resolve under LG Manoj Sinha’s leadership. The project has transformed the Tawi from a feared river into an asset of safety, sustainability, and growth. However, to secure the entire city, Phase II of the project—from Bikram Chowk to Gujjar Nagar—must be taken up on priority, as areas like Gujjar Nagar and Jammu University remain vulnerable.
