IGP Jammu reviews security arrangements for Jhiri Mela

JAMMU, Oct 28: Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti today visited Jhiri to review the security and other arrangements being made for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the annual Jhiri Mela.
He was accompanied by Deputy Inspector General, JSK Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma, and Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic Jammu, Amit Bhasin.
During the visit, a detailed meeting was held with officers from civil and police administration, including SDM Marh, SP Rural Jammu, SDPO Domana, Tehsildar Marh, and representatives from the Army, BSF, and the Baba Jitto Temple Committee.
The officers briefed the IGP about the preparations from their respective departments. SDM Marh apprised the IGP of the steps being taken by the civil administration, while SP Rural Jammu outlined the security deployment plan and traffic management strategy to handle the heavy rush of devotees.
The IGP Jammu later inspected the Mela site and took stock of entry and exit points, parking areas, and crowd control measures.
He emphasized the need for close coordination among all departments to ensure that the event is conducted smoothly, given the large public turnout expected every year and the proximity of the international border to the venue.
He also directed for adequate deployment of personnel, proper traffic regulation, and installation of surveillance systems to maintain safety and order during the Mela.
