J&K Wushu athletes shine at 69th NSG Wushu C’ship

SRINAGAR, Oct 29: The 69th National School Games in Wushu (Under-17 category), organized by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, Jammu and Kashmir, continued with high energy and excitement at the Indoor Sports Complex, Srinagar. The host contingent, Jammu and Kashmir, delivered several remarkable performances, led by Rutba Shabir and Arham, who stole the limelight with their dominant victories.
In the girls’ 65 kg category, Rutba Shabir from J&K showcased outstanding strength and control to defeat Khrishtina from Punjab, earning wide applause from spectators. In the boys’ 70 kg category, Arham from J&K displayed great composure and agility, overcoming Vaibhav from Delhi in a thrilling encounter.
Other J&K athletes also made their mark across various weight categories. In the girls’ 45 kg category, Magiha from J&K registered a fine win, while in the 48 kg category, Jiya from J&K impressed with her powerful techniques. In the boys’ 52 kg group, Kapish from J&K also won in an intense match, displaying both speed and tactical discipline. In the 56 kg category, Ayaan from J&K recorded a convincing win against his opponent, further boosting the host team’s morale.
The championship also saw strong performances from other states. Gayatri Pooniya (Rajasthan), Dimpal (Delhi), Ishita (Rajasthan), Bhumika (Delhi) and Riya (Rajasthan) emerged victorious in the girls’ section, while in the boys’ division, Victor (Manipur), Devansh (Rajasthan), Johan (Mizoram) and Shaurya (Uttar Pradesh) displayed exceptional skill.
Officials praised the high level of competition and commended the J&K Wushu team for their impressive performances and sportsmanship. The event continues to witness enthusiastic participation and has positioned Jammu and Kashmir as a rising powerhouse in school-level Wushu.
