Bollywood actor attends proceedings

Srinagar, Oct 29: Renowned Bollywood actor Mukesh Rishi today attended the proceedings of the J&K Legislative Assembly, watching the session from the Speaker’s Gallery.
Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather welcomed the veteran actor, noting his contribution to cinema with over 200 films to his credit.
Members from across party lines joined in applauding his presence in the House.
After the session, Rishi told reporters that he was visiting the Valley to participate in a series of programmes organised by the Army.
He said he also planned to meet local legislators and members of the Dogra community during his stay.
Sharing his impressions of the visit, Rishi said Kashmir continues to hold a unique charm for filmmakers and audiences alike.
He said he has worked on several projects shot in the Valley and remains deeply fond of its scenic beauty.
The actor said he intends to encourage his colleagues in the film industry to return to Kashmir for future shoots, adding that the region offers ideal locations and a welcoming atmosphere for filmmakers.
Rishi, known for his roles in Sarfarosh, Ghayal, and Krantiveer, said he had come directly to the Assembly after arriving in Srinagar and would spend the next two days exploring different parts of the Valley.
He expressed enthusiasm about visiting the mountains and other natural sites, saying such experiences always inspire creative work.
Hailing from Kathua, Rishi also lauded the Government’s ongoing efforts to revive film tourism in J&K.
His visit comes as the Government continues its push to position J&K as a prime destination for both national and international film productions.
