JAMMU: A meeting of various Sikh organisations was held under the chairmanship of Mohinder Singh, Chief Organiser Bhai Kanaiya Nishkam Sewa Society J&K, wherein various demands of the community were highlighted.
Speaking on the occasion, participants said that election of Gurdwara Parbandhak Committees, which become due last year, have not so far been held so far. They further said that earlier it was decided to hold elections in March 2021 and accordingly the voter-lists were also completed, but no notification was issued in this regard. Looking at the present scenario, when there is considerable decrease in coronavirus, the participants demanded that election process should be initiated at the earliest.
They also demanded that two assembly seats, out 24 seats kept for PoK, should be de-freezed and reserved for Sikh displaced persons to provide political representation to community in Legislative Assembly.
