“BJP leaders made tall claims that terrorism will be wiped out from J&K after the revocation of Article 370 and peace and development will return to the State, but even after more than six years, nothing has changed in the Jammu and Kashmir,” the AICC leader said while addressing large gathering in Jammu during a function held to pay rich tribute to former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi.

While referring to the incidents of Pahalgam terror attach where 26 tourists were killed and recent bomb blast in a Police Station at Nowgam in Kashmir, Hussain said BJP led Government at the Centre has miserably failed to crush militancy in Jammu and Kashmir. They only believe in making hollow slogans and exploiting people of the Jammu and Kashmir for their vested interests and winning elections. BJP has nothing to to do with the development of J&K and welfare of its people here. Their aim is only to win elections on the plank of J&K. Infact, the BJP do not want end to terrorism in J&K as it suits to this party to meet ‘political interests’.
Launching scathing attack on BJP for creating division in the country for the vested political motive, Hussain said its leaders only do dirty politics of `Hindu-Muslim’ which is very dangerous for the country. BJP leadership knows that it is not able to win elections and now they are resorting to `Vote Chori’. They stand fully exposed during recent Bihar elections for ‘vote theft’. They have to face consequences for it in the coming days.
Strongly criticisting BJP on the issue of electoral bonds scam, the AICC leader alleged that funds worth thousands of crores were collected by the party (BJP) illegally by exploiting big business/Industrial houses and that money was used to win Lok Sabha elections.
Hitting out at BJP for their divisive policies, he said that “earlier BJP used to win by ‘Vote Chori’ methods like in Maharashtra, Haryana & elsewhere and now using Election Commission to win elections like Bihar, where women were bribed by ten thousand rupees by launching a new ‘cash for vote’ scheme during elections. First time in the history of India, such a method was used by the government to launch the scheme in the midst of  elections and the Election Commission remained silent.”
He said 65 lakh voters were removed from voter list in Bihar while 75 lakh voters were added in Maharashtra between Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
Referring to the issue of Statehood, the AICC leader said that J&K people have suffered a lot with the snatching of Statehood and turning this large historic State into two UTs. He said land and job protection to the locals have been snatched with the LG rule in J&K. “Outsiders are getting jobs, snatching lands, doing mining here, taking contracts while local educated youth are deprived of the jobs. Unemployment has increased manifold and youth are frustrated. Drug trade has reached alarming proportion and government properties are being sold to the ‘two favourites’ (Ambani & Adani) of Modi and Amit Shah,” Hussain alleged.
He said that Statehood is the right of people of J&K and  its genuine right of the people to their land, jobs and resources which are available to the people in different States of the country under the Constitution of India, regretting that people of J&K have been stripped off their statehood and other genuine democratic rights by BJP.
Paying rich tribute to the first woman Prime Minister of the country and iron lady, Indira Gandhi on her 108th birth anniversary, the AICC general secretary said that  great leaders like Pt Nehru and Indira can’t  be born again in this country, who led the nation with great dynamism, vision and boldness. He said every Prime Minister wanted  to compete the leadership  and dynamism of Pt Nehru and Indira Gandhi  including Prime Minister Narendra Modi but no one can match their leadership qualities, strength, vision  and contributions for the country.
Welcoming  senior leaders & Former Ministers Jugal Kishore Sharma and Majid Wani, and ex- MLC Subash Gupta alongwith their supporters into the party, AICC general secretary said that Congress  will be strengthened by their coming  back in respective areas and overall in the UT and asserted that Congress has to be further strengthened in J&K to stand on its own legs.
He said that every party has to be strong enough to contest elections on its own strength and likewise Congress has to do the same here also, for which all  necessary steps shall be taken in coming days so that it  emerges further stronger.
Addressing the gathering, JKPCC president Tariq Hameed Karra recalled the dynamic and bold leadership of  Indira Gandhi who refused to bow to the dictates of then US President in 1971 while referring to the alleged ” surrender ” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi before US in recent times.
Karra welcomed the new entrants into the party and said that party shall benefit enormously by their’s  joining adding our doors are open to ideological supporters to fight ideological battle against BJP and to secure the genuine rights of people of J&K. He said J&K is the ideological battlefield for both Congress and BJP in the country adding that BJP is using J&K issues for its politics in rest of the country and winning elections.
AICC general secretary and CLP Leader, G A Mir paid rich tribute to Indira Gandhi and said that every Indian is proud of her contributions and bold leadership. Mir praised the Congress cadres of Jammu and Kashmir as the most ideologically committed in the country and for selflessly and boldly facing all challenges of the situation, including terrorism, deprivation of statehood status and other democratic rights.
AICC secretaries  co-incharge J&K Pargat Singh, and Divya Maderna,  IYC chief Udey Bhanu Chib,  JKPCC working president Raman Bhalla, AICC secretaries Neeraj Kundan, Shah Nawaz Chaudhary,  Ch Lal Singh (Ex-MP), Ravinder Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney besides newly inducted leaders- Jugal Kishore Sharma, Majid Wani and Subash Gupta and several senior Congress leaders and District heads also spoke on the occasion. Pargat Singh and Jugal Kishore Sharma stressed that selection of the candidates for elections should be done on merit basis, without any bias.
