KVS emerges Champion at 69th NSG U-19 Girls Taekwondo C’ship

JAMMU, Nov 19: Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) clinched the overall Championship at the 69th National School Games U-19 Girls Taekwondo Championship, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), J&K, under the aegis of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) at the Indoor Sports Complex, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.
KVS showcased a dominant performance, winning a total of 4 medals 1 Gold and 3 Silver amassing 22 points to secure the champion title. Maharashtra finished second with 2 Gold and 2 Bronze medals totaling 20 points, while Kerala claimed third place with 2 Gold and 1 Bronze, earning 14 points.
On the final day, in the fiercely contested U-19 Girls Under-49 kg category, Siva Mugalya D of Kerala won Gold, Varanasi Hima of Andhra Pradesh bagged Silver and the Bronze medals went to Jaya Kumari (Jharkhand) and Sinayti Basumatray (Assam).
The prestigious prize distribution was graced by Joint Commissioner JMC, Subha Mehta, along with dignitaries including Vinakshi Koul, Megha Baogia, Shuku Choudhary and Parichay Mishra (SGFI). They lauded the organizers and praised the athletes as ambassadors of peace, harmony, and sportsmanship.
Vinakshi Koul emphasized that such events promote sports, tourism, culture, and youth camaraderie. The DYSS, J&K will next host the U-19 Boys and Girls Table Tennis Championship at the University of Jammu from November 21 to 25, 2025.
