JAMMU, Nov 26: Residents of Upper Rajinder Nagar, JDA Colony Bantalab have demanded immediate construction of the Nallah with proper retaining walls, drainage and road repair and removal of encroachments and jhuggi settlements.
In a statement issued here after the meeting, the residents also demanded ban on muck-sewage dumping and action against those responsible for spreading it and security verification and monitoring system by the JDA staff.
They said the residential colony planned and allotted by the JDA in 1989 has unfortunately been left in highly unsafe and deteriorated condition with most threatening concern being the Nallah which has neither been properly constructed nor supported with retaining walls.
“During heavy rains, the area becomes completely submerged due to absence of drainage, blocked pathways and damaged roads. The crate work recently done is merely an eyewash as it can’t withstand water pressure during Monsoon,” they said.
