4 bovine smugglers arrested

Reasi, Nov 27: In two separate swift operations, Police Post Talwara foiled bovine smuggling attempts and rescued two buffaloes along with two calves, besides arresting four alleged smugglers.
At around 0230 hours, police party of PP Talwara intercepted a Tata Ace Mini Truck (JK20C-0475) moving suspiciously from Tali Morh towards Mahore at Zero Morh.
Upon checking, bovines were found being transported without permission. The accused were identified as Rakesh Kumar, son of Habib, resident of Seela, Reasi and Mohd Asgar, son of Hamdu, resident of Adbais, Mahore.
Police rescued the animals, seized the vehicle and arrested both the accused. Subsequently, FIR No. 181/2025 under Section 223 BNSS and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act was registered at Police Station Reasi.
In another action at around 0300 hours, the police party of PP Talwara rescued one buffalo and one calf from two more smugglers transporting animals illegally in a Tata Mobile (JK20C-7785) from Tali Morh towards Mahore. The arrested accused have been identified as Nazakat Ali son of Mohd Shafi of Village Balad, Tehsil Thuroo, and Paramjeet Kumar, son of Dhani Ram of Village Maslote, Tehsil Thuroo.
