UCC triumphs as Jammu Veteran League Edition 1 concludes

JAMMU, Nov 28: The inaugural “Jammu Veteran League Cricket Tournament – Edition 1”, conceptualized and organized by the Samvedna Club under the leadership of chairman Keshav Chopra, concluded today with United Cricket Club (UCC) clinching the championship title.
The 10-day tournament, which began on November 20, stood out not only for its sporting spirit but also for its powerful theme: “Say No to Drugs and Yes to Sports.”
The grand finale and closing ceremony witnessed the presence of several notable dignitaries. BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma (CA) graced the event as the chief guest while Jammu East MLA Yudhvir Sethi attended as the guest of honor.
The occasion also saw the participation of former Minister Priya Sethi, BJP vice president Rekha Mahajan, general secretaries Sanjita Dogra and Gopal Mahajan, secretaries Reema Padha and Arun Kumar Sharma, parbhari Jammu Brijeshwar Singh Rana, and BJP district president Rajesh Gupta, among many other prominent personalities.
Speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma said, “The slogan, ‘Say No to Drugs and Yes to Sports,’ is the need of the hour for Jammu and Kashmir,” he said, adding, sports channels youth energy in a positive direction, instilling fitness, discipline and teamwork. Such efforts significantly strengthen the fight against drug abuse.
Keshav Chopra stressed that the League reflects the Club’s commitment to social welfare. “This is more than a tournament; it is a movement against drug abuse. We are committed to making the Jammu Veteran League an annual event and strengthening our mission of building a drug-free Jammu.”
The ceremony concluded with Rahul Nargotra managing proceedings and Vikas Kumar presenting the vote of thanks.
