J&K Go team shines as 2nd Runner-Up at 3rd National Go C’ship

JAMMU, Nov 30: The Jammu & Kashmir Go Team delivered an impressive performance at the 3rd National Go Championship held in Puri, Odisha, securing the 2nd Runner-Up Trophy among participants from 15 States across the country. The championship was hosted by the Amateur Go Association Odisha under the banner of the Indo Amateur Go Association India.
All participants from J&K competed in the Sub-Junior Under-12 category, where they demonstrated strong skill, focus, and team coordination. The winning lineup from J&K included Aryan Sharma (DHSS), Sakib Ul Hussain (SDTPS), Balbir Singh (DHSS), Nikhil Verma (DHSS), Ruder Sharma (DHSS), Kuvam Singh (DHSS) and Debashish (DHSS), all of whom contributed to the team’s podium finish.
The event was graced by the President of the Odisha Olympic Association as the chief guest, while Manoj, General Secretary of the Indo Amateur Go Association India, also attended the ceremony. A special felicitation was presented to Sunny Nanda, General Secretary of the J&K association, for his continuous efforts in promoting the mind sport in the region.
All selected players have qualified for the 2026 National Championship in Goa. On the occasion, Pooja Malhotra congratulated the young athletes and their parents. At the conclusion, Manoj announced the nomination of Sunny Nanda as an Executive Member of the national body.
