BHADERWAH, Nov 30: In a major effort to promote sports and youth engagement in the hilly region of Doda district, the 26 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) organised Cricket Premier League Gandoh, featuring an impressive 106 local teams from Bhalessa area. After a month-long competition that began on November 1, Changa Warriors clinched coveted trophy and a cash prize of Rs 21,000, defeating Young Hills Bhalessa in the final.
Col Mahipal Singh Bhati, CO 26 RR, said the tournament reflects the enthusiasm and potential of local youth. He noted that the initiative strengthens the bond between the Army and the community, besides providing a platform for budding talent.
Local players expressed gratitude to the Army for organising the event. Veteran cricketer Firdous Khanday said the tournament offered young players a rare opportunity to play on quality turf, boosting their confidence to pursue cricket at professional levels.
