RAJOURI, Nov 30: A 25-year-old woman died under suspicious circumstances in Khawas area of Rajouri district last evening.
The deceased has been identified as Rabina Kousser, wife of Mohd Yaseen, a resident of village Gunda, in Khawas tehsil of Rajouri district. She died under suspicious circumstances late Saturday evening, prompting serious allegations and a police investigation.
According to initial reports, Rabinas case was brought to the notice of authorities after her family alleged that she had been murdered. The family claimed that she was brutally beaten up by her husband, stating that visible injury marks on her face and body clearly indicate foul play. They accused the in-laws of concealing the circumstances leading to her death and asserted that the torture was the direct cause.
Upon receiving the information, Budhal Police registered a case of death under suspicious circumstances and initiated inquest proceedings.
SHO Budhal, Inspector Ajaz Haider, confirmed that the post-mortem examination was conducted at Government Hospital Kalakote and that the report is awaited. “The exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem findings. A thorough investigation has been initiated, and if it is found to be a case of murder, strict action will be taken and no one will be spared,” he stated.
Dr Iqbal Malik, Block Medical Officer Kalakote, confirmed that the post-mortem was completed at Kalakote Hospital and the body has been handed over to the family for last rites.
Meanwhile, police have assured an impartial and comprehensive investigation into the matter.
