DODA, Dec 1: In a significant development for one of the region’s most prominent cricket tournaments, the Young Star Cricket Club (YSCC) Doda has announced Zimbabwean international fast bowler Christopher Mpofu as the Brand Ambassador for the All India 16th Gufran Memorial T20 Cricket Championship 2026.
The tournament, known for drawing competitive teams and talented players from across the country, is expected to gain increased visibility and credibility with Mpofu’s association. The veteran pacer, who has taken 155 international wickets for Zimbabwe across 84 ODIs, 32 T20Is, and 15 Tests, retired from international cricket in 2020 but continues to participate in professional leagues worldwide.
The appointment was finalized during a meeting held in Doda under the chairmanship of Patron Manzoor Ahmed Bhatt, attended by Chairman Naseer Ahmed Khora, General Secretary Faizan Ali Tramboo, Advisor Zaheer Abbas Hashmi, and several officials and club members. The decision was unanimously supported, with the club calling it a major step toward elevating the tournament’s stature.
YSCC Doda expressed confidence that Mpofu’s presence will inspire young cricketers and draw national attention to the event.
