Two criminals held, illegal arms recovered: Police

JAMMU, Dec 2: Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed that they have arrested two alleged criminals in separate incidents under Police Station Domana and recovered illegal pistols, ammunition and a sharp-edged weapon from their possession.
Addressing media persons at Police Station Domana here, SP Jammu Rural, Brijesh Kumar Sharma said that in the first incident, an unidentified person fired shots inside the Grand Reeves Banquet Hall at Udheywala on the intervening night of November 28-29, creating panic among the guests. Taking cognisance of the incident, he said, an FIR number 250/2025 under the Arms Act was registered at Police Station Doman and an investigation was started.
He said the investigation team, led by SHO Domana, Inspector Varuneshwar Singh, arrested one Sunny Sharma of Marh, for his involvement in the firing.
Based on his disclosure, the SP Jammu Rural, Brijesh Kumar Sharma said that two country-made pistols along with live and fired cartridges were recovered by the police team.
According to him, the accused was also involved in another case registered at Police Station Kanachak.
In another incident reported on the intervening night of November 28-29, the SP Jammu Rural said that a naka checking party at Bhagwati Nagar, Pounichak, intercepted a suspicious person, later identified as Jaskirat Singh alias Sanam of Camp Gole Gujral, Jammu.
Led by PSI Amreek Singh, incharge Police Post Pouni Chak, he said, the naka party recovered one country-made pistol and a sharp weapon (toka) on search of the suspicious person, he said.
Accordingly, the police officer said, the suspected individual was arrested and booked in case FIR number 251/2025 under the relevant sections of the Arms Act registered at Police Station Domana.
The SP Jammu Rural added that the accused arrested from Bhagwati Nagar, Pouni Chak, was also involved in two earlier cases, with one registered at Police Station Domana and another at Police Station Nowabad.
He said further investigations in both the cases are underway to identify the sources of weapons.
