25th J&K UT Kho Kho C’ship begins with grand opening ceremony

JAMMU, Dec 13: The 25th J&K UT Kho Kho Championship commenced today with an impressive and colourful opening ceremony.
The championship was formally inaugurated through a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony by the chief guest, Ishan Gupta, in the presence of several distinguished guests and sports administrators.
The inaugural function was attended by special guests Jagdish Raj Gupta, Gourav Khajuria, Manpreet Deol, Harvinder Kour, Neeti Kour, General Secretary of Master Games, and Lakhwinder Singh.
Members of the organizing committee of the Jammu and Kashmir Kho Kho Association (JKKKA), including Manmeet Singh, B S Tirthi, Amrinder Pal Singh, Pankaj Malhotra and Tarmeet Raina, were also present.
The opening ceremony was further enlivened by captivating cultural performances reflecting the rich heritage and diversity of the region. A powerful Gatka performance by the Kshatriya Fouj Gatka Academy showcased the ancient Sikh martial art. Students of MC Khalsa High School presented a dynamic dance performance that filled the venue with enthusiasm and festive spirit.
This year’s championship has drawn participation from 17 districts of the J&K Union Territory, bringing together the best young Kho Kho talent from across the region. Both boys’ and girls’ teams are competing in the tournament.
Speaking on the occasion, Amrinder Pal Singh said that the championship is not only about competition but also serves as an important platform for youth to build camaraderie, maintain physical fitness and promote traditional sports.
