JAMMU, Dec 17: Guru Nanak Hockey Club and Khelo India A emerged champions in the Jammu District Hockey Championship, the finals of which were played at KK Hakku Hockey Stadium, Jammu.
In the men’s final, Guru Nanak Hockey Club defeated Bandhu Rakh Hockey Club by 5-3 via tie-breaker after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time. Saksham Sharma gave Guru Nanak the lead in the 19th minute by converting a penalty corner, while Gurpreet Singh equalized for Bandhu Rakh in the 53rd minute with a field goal.
In the women’s final, Khelo India A outplayed Shahra Club by 5-0. Anju struck twice, while Komal, Dhani, and Janvi added one goal each. The finals were inaugurated by Rajeev Sharma. Prizes were distributed b Balvinder Singh, Vice President, Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, who lauded the revival of hockey in the region.
