SRINAGAR, Dec 29: MLA Zadibal and Jammu and Kashmir National Conference spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq flagged off Muzamil Hussain Mir of Srinagar for participation in the 52nd Ciaspolada 2026, an international snowshoe running event in Italy. Muzamil, a bronze medallist at the 2020 World Snowshoe Championship in Japan, is the only athlete from Jammu and Kashmir in the 12-member Indian Snowshoe Team.
Tanvir Sadiq congratulated Muzamil and encouraged him to bring laurels to India and Jammu and Kashmir, assuring him of all possible support in the future. Muzamil recently emerged as J&K’s top marathon runner at the 2nd Kashmir Marathon and has also participated in a Guinness World Record marathon in Leh-Ladakh. He has won medals at the Khelo India Winter Games in snowshoe running, highlighting his dedication and resilience.
Despite securing his Italy visa early, Muzamil faced funding challenges, approaching several corporate houses for partial sponsorship without success. He managed his travel by borrowing from a friend and expressed gratitude to Tanvir Sadiq for consistent support, vowing to give his best to make the country and J&K proud.
