JAMMU, Dec 30: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Jammu of Crime Branch delivered a landmark performance in 2025 by taking firm, decisive and result-oriented action against a wide spectrum of Economic Offences (EOs) across the Jammu zone.
Through meticulous investigations, timely disposal of cases and proactive grievance redressal, the specialized wing has emerged as a strong pillar in safeguarding transparency and upholding the rule of law in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the year, EOW disposed of a record number of FIRs involving serious and complex economic crimes and registered 67 new cases, breaking a 25-year record.
The monetary value of cases charge sheeted by the agency in various Courts of Law during 2025 is estimated at approximately Rs 20 crore.
As part of sustained enforcement efforts, 22 accused persons involved in different FIRs were arrested.
Dedicated teams of EOW were also deputed across the Jammu zone and to other states of India for search and arrest operations.
These investigations involved rigorous scrutiny and detailed analysis of documentary and digital evidence, along with close coordination with government departments, banks and financial institutions.
The timely disposal of cases stands as a testimony to the professionalism, dedication and commitment of the officers and staff of the Wing.
EOW also played a crucial role in public grievance redressal by resolving 1,186 complaints during the year.
Throughout 2025, the Wing investigated numerous land frauds, high-profile cases, impersonation and cheating incidents, visa frauds, misappropriation of government funds and misuse of official position by public servants.
Special focus was laid on cracking down on illegal job consultancies operating in the Jammu zone.
Organized networks of land brokers, habitual offenders and professional fraudsters involved in systematic economic crimes were identified and booked under law, sending a strong deterrent message.
Further strengthening investigative capacity, Photo Sections of EOW Jammu established in different districts of the Jammu zone performed commendably by providing comprehensive photographic coverage of crime scenes.
These units covered 3,599 crime scenes across various cases registered at different police stations, playing a vital role in preserving crucial evidence.
Working under the guidance and supervision of Crime Headquarters, J&K, EOW continued to perform its duties with a strong sense of social responsibility.
Alongside enforcement, the Wing also imparted awareness among the general public about new criminal laws.
The Wing further expressed sincere gratitude to various government departments, financial institutions including banks and the private sector for their continued cooperation and timely sharing of information, which significantly aided investigations and effective case disposal.
