JAMMU, Dec 30: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Ministry of Finance today promoted Amit Kumar, IRS, to the rank of Additional Commissioner of Income Tax.
According to CBDT Order, the promotion will take effect from January 1, 2026.
Kumar, who hails from Jammu and Kashmir, has an extensive and distinguished career in the Income Tax Department.

Over the years, he has served in several key capacities, including Income Tax Officer (ITO), Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax and Joint Director of Income Tax.
His postings have spanned across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab and Delhi, where he has contributed significantly to tax administration and enforcement.
At present, he is posted in the Directorate of Systems, New Delhi, serving as Additional Director of Income Tax (Systems), a crucial role in strengthening the department’s digital and technological framework.
In recognition of his exceptional service and professional excellence, Kumar has also received the CBDT ‘Certificate of Appreciation’.
His promotion is seen as a matter of pride for the Income Tax Department as well as for Jammu and Kashmir, reflecting his dedication, competence and commitment to public service.
