Sajad Lone accuses Govt of failing to deliver on promises

Srinagar Jan 1: Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone today accused the Omar-led Government of failing to fulfil its promises, calling it a “total failed Government” and alleging officials are deceiving the public.
Speaking to reporters in Handwara, Lone criticised the Government’s unfulfilled promises. “There were promises made by the Government that they would provide free electricity for 200 units. Instead of free electricity, the bill that used to come in non-metered areas has been increased by 50%. Twelve cylinders are nowhere to be found,” he said.
Highlighting employment issues, the PC chief added, “Then they said they would provide Rs. 5,000 for the unemployed. They said they would create 1-lakh new jobs, but they are nowhere to be found.”
Lone alleged that the Government is “converting Government jobs into private sector jobs” and that outsourcing has become “a big scam, a business.” “The promises made were all lies. No promises were fulfilled. Only transfers are visible. And the truth is that they have taken votes on lies. They have deceived people,” he said.
He also criticised the Government’s reservation and merit policies, highlighting inequalities for Kashmiris. “There are two things. One is 40% open merit. That is one part of the problem. In the whole of India, it is 50%. But in Jammu and Kashmir, 60% is reserved. Sixty percent of children are selected in the reserved category-46-47% from Jammu and 13-14% from Kashmir. Right now, your population is more than 60% Kashmiri, and net selection for your children is 28-32%,” he said.
He added, “Until you bring back the district, divisional, and state cadre, which was there before, this matter can never be resolved.”
Lone also expressed frustration over the absence of political leadership in addressing rental issues for Kashmiris in Delhi. “When I was in Delhi, I also had problems. I would have expected Omar Abdullah to take issue with the centre. He has not called anyone for 10 days. He is missing. I feel sad when I see their condition, their helplessness. But what can we do?”
He further accused the Government of serving the elites, who constitute less than one percent of the population, while the problems of the remaining 99 percent of Jammu and Kashmir residents are ignored.
