Awareness programme about New Labour Codes held

JAMMU, Jan 2: As a part of the ongoing IEC campaign to generate awareness about New Labour Codes, an interactive session was held by the Labour Department with the Association of Industries, Gangyal.
The Association president, members, representatives of employers and employees were present on the occasion. A Labour Department team headed by Deputy Labour Commissioner Jammu and consisting of Assistant Labour Commissioner Jammu, Labour Officers and Factory Inspectors threw light on different aspects of New Labour Codes.
The officers stressed on the need of these labour reforms in the backdrop of changing market scenario and highlighted the significant aspects of four codes– Code on Wages, Code on Industrial Relations, Social Security Code and Code on Occupational Safety & Health.
The doubts and submissions given by the employers, employees were heard and discussed threadbare. The stakeholders were also briefed about the phased transition from the existing Labour Laws to the full implementation of the New Labour Codes.
Suggestion and feedback from the members of the Association were invited and noted, paving the way for a smoother and more effective implementation of the Codes.
