KISHTWAR, Jan 2: Four residential houses including two four storey, one three storey and one two storey building along with a shop and a cowshed and an Anganwadi Center were gutted in a devastating fire which hit a remote village Thechna in Dachhan area of mountainous Kishtwar district last evening.
Though there was no loss of life in the incident but two brothers Mohd Jabran Mir and Liaqat Ali Mir, both sons of Gh Mohd Mir received burn injuries and were taken of a nearby PHC.
The blaze inflicted massive damage to the residential and other structures in the area and gutted all the things kept there.
MoS PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh has expressed grief and shock over the incident of fire. In a post on social media platform X, earlier Twitter, he wrote: “Just now spoke to DC Kishtwar, Shri Pankaj Sharma, after learning about the fire incident in the Dachhan area, in which a couple of houses were gutted. No loss of life has been reported. The administration and the Red Cross have immediately mobilised relief material to the spot. Meanwhile, financial assistance is also being arranged for the affected families.”
DC Kishtwar, Pankaj Sharma personally monitored the rescue and relief operation. He said that tents and other relief material have been provided to the affected persons and a detailed assessment of losses will be conducted.
Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has expressed concern over the fire incident and has asked the district administration to ensure immediate relief, assess losses and provide assistance to the affected families.
NC president, Dr. Farooq Abdullah has expressed sorrow over the devastating fire that broke out in Dachhan area in Kishtwar late Thursday night.
He expressed heartfelt sympathies with the affected families and called for immediate measures to provide relief and support to those who have lost their homes and belongings in the fire.
MP Sajad Kitchloo also expressed grief over the incident and said that he had spoken to the CM to ensure immediate assistance.
Leader of the Opposition and senior BJP leader, Sunil Sharma said he was in touch with the affected families to arrange relief measures.
J&K Congress chief, Tariq Hamid Karra urged the district and UT administrations to provide immediate assistance to the affected families.
