The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr M S Bhadwal, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry (FVSc & AH); Dr Jasvinder Soodan the Dean, Faculty of Dairy Technology (FoDT); Prof Anil Kumar, Registrar & Dean FoA, Estates Officer of the University and members of the library team. This initiative represents the successful initiation of the first phase at the R S Pura Faculty Library, forming part of a larger pilot project that covers both university libraries—the Faculty Library at R S Pura and the Central Library at the Main Campus in Chatha.
Speaking on the Occasion, Prof R K Samnotra, University Librarian stated that the new QR code system organizes book lists by faculty and division, fully aligned with the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system. This innovative approach eliminates the need for manual catalog searches, making resource discovery quicker and more user-friendly.
Vice-Chancellor Dr B N Tripathi stated: “This QR code initiative is a forward-looking step in our commitment to digital excellence at SKUAST-Jammu. It will empower our students and faculty with instant access to knowledge resources, aligned with our vision of building a vibrant, globally competitive institution in agricultural and veterinary sciences.”
Scholars & students from R S Pura, along with the entire library team, led by Leela Dhar Mangi, Assistant Librarian, and Dr Asha Rani, Dr Amit Sharma, Senior Library Assistants, Sharda Rani & Sheefaili were instrumental in bringing this initiative to fruition and ensuring its alignment with academic excellence.
