SRINAGAR/ JAMMU, Jan 12: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir organised various programmes across J&K to highlight the benefits of VB GRAM G Bill for the people of rural India.
The party today organized a workshop on Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin), popularly known as the VB-GRAM G Act, 2025, at Church Lane, Srinagar.
The workshop was presided over by BJP general secretary (Organization), J&K, Ashok Koul, along with BJP general secretary, J&K, Anwar Khan, who addressed party workers and office bearers from across the Kashmir region.
J&K BJP secretary, Mudasir Wani, party spokespersons, Altaf Thakur and Manzoor Bhat, office secretary, Salinder Singh, media in charge, Sajid Yousuf Shah, All Cells co-convenor, Bilal Parray, social-media, co-incharge, Sajad Raina, senior party leaders, State office bearers, district presidents, Prabharis, and programme convenors and co-convenors from across the districts were present at the workshop.
Addressing the workshop, Ashok Koul said that the VB-GRAM G Act, 2025 is a landmark initiative under the vision of Viksit Bharat, designed to ensure guaranteed employment opportunities for 125 days-25 days more than the earlier 100 days-along with skill development and sustainable livelihoods in rural areas. He emphasized that the Act integrates employment generation with self-reliance by strengthening traditional occupations, promoting agri-based enterprises, rural entrepreneurship, women Self-Help Groups, and youth-led initiatives at the village level with a modern-day vision and technology.
Koul reiterated the Modi Government’s firm commitment to inclusive rural development, asserting that the VB-GRAM G Act will play a pivotal role in strengthening employment security, boosting rural prosperity, and realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat in Jammu & Kashmir.
The District BJP Udhampur hailed the newly enacted VB G-RAM-G Act as a historic and transformative reform aimed at genuine rural empowerment and sustainable development. Addressing a press conference, Deputy Leader of Opposition, Pawan Kumar Gupta, along with MLA Chenani Balwant Singh Mankotia, MLA Udhampur, East, Ranbir Singh Pathania, MLA Ramnagar, Sunil Bhardwaj, and district president, BJP, Arun Gupta, described the legislation as a decisive improvement over the deeply flawed MGNREGA framework.
Talking to media, the leaders stated that while MGNREGA promised 100 days of employment, the reality on the ground remained limited to barely 45-50 days of work, plagued by chronic payment delays, fake muster rolls and contractor-driven execution. They asserted that the VB G-RAM-G Act decisively ends this “paper guarantee” and replaces it with a legally enforceable assurance of 125 days of employment, backed by strict accountability, transparency and time-bound delivery.
Highlighting the key provisions of the Act, they said it restores the supremacy of Gram Sabhas in planning, execution and monitoring, thereby ensuring genuine decentralisation. Wage payments will be time-bound, with automatic compensation for delays, while social audits, geo-tagging and digital monitoring will eliminate corruption and leakages. The Act also expands employment opportunities from unskilled labour to semi-skilled and skilled work, creating dignified livelihood opportunities for youth and women.
BJP district president Ramban and ex MLA, Neelam Langeh also termed the VB GRAM G Bill a historic legislation which will transform rural India.
Talking to reporters at Ramban today, Langeh said that the new Legislation will end corruption rural people will not only get increased man days in a year, but also get wages without any hurdle and harassment.
He said this is another step of Modi led Government for the welfare of poor and downtrodden people of this country irrespective of their caste, creed colour and religion.
BJP district president, Rajouri, Dev Raj Sharma, described the VB-G RAM G Bill as a historic and transformative reform aimed at strengthening rural employment, ensuring livelihood security, and aligning grassroots development with the national vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047. He stated that the new legislation replaces the earlier MGNREGA framework with a more robust, transparent, and outcome-oriented rural employment guarantee system.
Addressing a press Sharma highlighted that under the VB-G RAM G Act, the guaranteed employment days for rural households have been enhanced to 125 days per year, providing greater income stability to rural families.
