Drug peddler held with heroin-like substance, cash from Narwal

JAMMU, Jan 14: Police today claimed they have arrested a drug peddler from Narwal area and recovered a heroin-like substance along with cash and an electronic weighing scale machine from his possession.
During routine patrolling near Railway Pulli in Narwal area, a team of Police Post Narwal, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Bahu Fort, intercepted a suspect, later identified as Yasir Sheikh of Basarkund, Kishtwar, presently residing near Makka Masjid, Bathindi, a police official said.
He said on search of the suspect, 14 grams of heroin-like substance, cash amounting to Rs 54500 and one electronic weighing scale were recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, the accused was booked in case FIR number 22/2026 under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Bahu Fort, he said.
While the accused has been taken into custody, further investigation is underway to establish the backward and forward linkages in the case, added the police official.
