Japan, Jan 16 (UNI/SPUTNIK) A US Air Force F-35A fighter jet has disappeared from radar off the coast of Japan, near the city of Aomori, after sending a distress signal, the Flightradar24 service showed on Friday.
According to the service’s data, the Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II fighter jet arrived from the northern part of the Sea of Japan, flew eastward over land south of Aomori, and then headed northeast. At about 03:09 GMT, the aircraft disappeared from radar.
According to the flight information provided by Flightradar24, at some point, the aircraft transmitted a 7700 squawk code – a universal code indicating an emergency. (UNI)
