UDHAMPUR, Jan 16: A public darbar was organized today by MLA Jammu West Pawan Kumar Gupta at Sunari Panchayat, covering the adjoining panchayats of Hartyan Kambal Danga, Pata Kotli, Sundarani, Muttal, Barolla Neeli Nallah and Jib, with the objective of listening to public grievances and ensuring their prompt and effective redressal.
During the public darbar, residents from all the Panchayats raised issues related to roads, drinking water, electricity, healthcare, education, ration supply, pensions and other day-to-day civic concerns. Officers and officials from various departments present on the spot interacted directly with the public. Several genuine grievances were resolved immediately, while clear, time-bound directions were issued for issues requiring further action.
Addressing the gathering, Pawan Gupta acknowledged the timely special financial assistance provided to the UT Government for flood and rain-affected areas by the Prime Minister and Home Minister. He said that this timely support has provided much-needed relief to affected families and has strengthened restoration and rehabilitation efforts across vulnerable regions.
The MLA also apprised the public about the salient features of the VB G RAM-G Act. He highlighted that the Act offers distinct advantages over MGNREGA by ensuring better planning at the Panchayat level, enhanced accountability, faster grievance redressal, creation of durable assets and more effective utilization of public funds.
Prominent local representatives and community leaders present on the occasion included Mandal pradhan and ex-sarpanchs Shashi Pal Sharma, Shiv Dev Singh, Rakesh Sharma, Sunil Manohar, Sanjay Sharma, Ashok Shastri, Darshana Devi and Pawan Sharma, Chanay Ram (retired ZEO) and ex naib sarpanch Pankaj Kerni. Seh Prabhari, Rohit Sharma (VB G RAM-G) and Varinder Badyal were also present on the occasion.
