JAMMU, Jan 17: A delegation of the Durga Nagar Welfare Coordination Committee (DNWCC) called on the Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu and the State Election Officer, here and submitted a memorandum highlighting long-pending and legitimate demand.
The memorandum demanded that Kashmiri Pandit migrants presently residing in Jammu be temporarily permitted to exercise their votes in Municipal elections at Jammu, while retaining their Assembly and Parliamentary voting rights in the Valley.
It said granting of Municipal voting rights in Jammu will enable migrant residents to seek redressal of issues related to water supply, sanitation, electricity, roads, health services, and other essential civic amenities in the areas where they currently live. DNWCC later meet MD JPDCL on power and water supply Issues.
The delegation submitted a memorandum highlighting frequent unscheduled power cuts in RN-6 and RN-2 feeders. Despite 100% smart metering and strong revenue contribution, residents continue to face repeated power curtailments, it said.
They showed concern over overloading of RN-6 feeder due to inclusion of other adjoining area and repeated tripping of MU-9 feeder at CPS Muthi, disrupting water supply.
DNWCC demanded detachment of newly added area from RN-6 and declaration of MU-9 as an Essential Service Feeder. The MD JPDCL issued directives to field officers, seeking report, and assured early redressal. The delegation later approached the Ex-Engineer, PDD, in this regard later.
It also met the Commissioner, Relief and Rehabilitation, Jammu, and submitted a memorandum highlighting several public welfare issues.
It highlighted duplication and incorrect categorization of Ayushman Bharat Cards, old age pension eligibility issues
Self-Employment Schemes for unemployed persons, relief enhancement, weekly Aadhaar Camp at Durga Nagar
Issues of roads and sanitation.
The Commissioner issued directions to concerned officers that Ayushman discrepancies be rectified through concerned zones.
He informed the delegation that eligible senior citizens should approach offices for pension registration.
Unemployed persons were asked to approach Zonal Officers for self-employment schemes.
The RRC also informed that Aadhaar services will be arranged shortly at Durga Nagar. He said the relief enhancement issue has been forwarded for follow-up and the civic and sanitation issues to be taken up with Municipal authorities.
The delegation comprised of Behari Lal Raina, Sanjay Ganjoo, M. K. Razdhan, general secretary, C. L. Dhar, Ashwani Kak, Vesh Nath Raina, Ravinder Bhat and Kuldeep Bakshi Ji.
