KARGIL, Jan 17 : Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho today chaired a meeting to review preparations and arrangements for the celebration of the 16th National Voters’ Day meant to be held on 25 January 2026 at the Ice Hockey Rink, Byamathang, Kargil.
The meeting was attended by Tehsildar, Kargil; Deputy District Election Officer; Executive Engineer, Mechanical; Executive Engineer, PDD; Executive Engineer, PHE; District Youth Officer, NYK; representative of Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture & Languages(LAACL), School Education Department representatives of Ice Hockey Association besides other concerned departments and stakeholders.
During the meeting, the Deputy District Election Officer briefed the participants about the proposed activities and programmes planned for the National Voters’ Day celebrations.
The ADC directed the Tehsildar to ensure participation of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) at the event. He desired maximum participation of youth, especially new and young voters.
The Mechanical Department was directed to keep arrangements in place for snow clearance subject to snowfall. NYK’s District Youth Officer was asked to mobilise volunteers to support the event and enhance public participation and also to explore similar awareness programmes at various coaching institutes.
The Department of Information & Public Relations was tasked with provision of PA Systems, anchoring, publicity, and IEC activities.
The Power Development Department (PDD) was directed to ensure electricity back-up, while the PHE Department was asked to ensure water supply if required for freezing the ice. The Municipal Committee was instructed to ensure proper cleanliness and sanitation at the venue.
The ADC also suggested setting up a selfie point, an information stall and a TV display to play documentaries and messages by voter awareness ambassadors. Further, he asked the Ice Hockey Association to come up with creative activities to mark the occasion.
Expressing hope for a smooth and successful conclusion, the ADC sought full cooperation from all Departments so that the National Voters’ Day programme is organised in an effective and meaningful manner, promoting voter awareness and democratic participation in Kargil District.
