RAJOURI, Jan 25: The 56th Annual Urs of the revered Sufi Saint Baji Mian Ismail was observed with profound religious fervour and spiritual devotion at the historic Jandimorh Shrine, located on the border of Rajouri and Reasi districts.
The Annual Urs, traditionally held on January 24, commenced on January 20 and concluded with the final collective dua on Thursday.
Lakhs of devotees from various parts of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as from outside the Union Territory, participated in the four-day-long congregation, making it one of the largest Urs gatherings in the Jammu division. The massive turnout reflected the enduring faith of people in the spiritual legacy and teachings of the Sufi saint.
During the Urs, prominent religious scholars (Ulema) addressed the gatherings and emphasized the core values of Sufism-peace, brotherhood, tolerance, and mutual respect. A strong appeal was made to the youth to shun drug abuse and adopt a life guided by spirituality, discipline, and social responsibility. Special prayers were also offered for lasting peace, unity, and harmony across the nation.
The Jandimorh Shrine once again emerged as a powerful symbol of communal harmony, as devotees belonging to all faiths-including Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs-gathered together to pay their respects and seek blessings. A common langar was organized throughout the Urs, where meals were served to all devotees.
