JAMMU, Jan 25: In a major boost to the ongoing drive against crime, Joginder Singh, SSP Jammu highlighted significant successes achieved by Police Stations Bahu Fort, Bagh-e-Bahu and Channi Himmat in their sustained crackdown on narcotics trafficking, theft cases and violations of District Magistrate orders.

Addressing the media, Singh said, “Rajiv Nagar area, which had earlier gained notoriety as a hotspot for drug peddling, has now been brought under strict surveillance and effective control. Through sustained operations involving technical surveillance, enhanced source-based intelligence and round-the-clock deployment of police personnel, Jammu Police has successfully dismantled the narcotics network operating in the area.”
“Since 2025, a total of 27 FIRs under the NDPS Act have been registered, leading to the arrest of 41 drug peddlers. During these operations, police recovered 1.238 kilograms of heroin and 18 kilograms of ganja. Additionally, 11 illegally constructed houses linked with drug trafficking were demolished, three bank accounts containing approximately Rs 1.8 lakh were frozen, one vehicle was attached, and cash worth nearly Rs 4 lakh was seized,” he said.
Highlighting recent breakthroughs, the SSP informed that in FIR No. 265/25, Police Station Bahu Fort arrested Pal Singh of Narwal Bala, a habitual offender involved in two earlier NDPS cases.
During the operation, 265 grams of heroin was recovered. Further investigations are underway to trace backward and forward linkages, particularly the financial network.
Similarly, on 14 January 2026, Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu arrested drug peddler Arun Singh alias Kana during naka checking at NHW Bravo-03. Around 5–6 grams of heroin and a digital weighing machine were seized, leading to the registration of FIR No. 02/2026.
The SSP also briefed the media about successful detection of theft and burglary cases.
In a burglary case registered at Bahu Fort Police Station involving theft worth Rs 5.5 lakh from a locked house in Trikuta Nagar, four accused were arrested and stolen property worth approximately Rs 5 lakh was recovered.
In another case, police recovered a stolen Mahindra TUV-300 vehicle, while at Channi Himmat Police Station, a stolen scooty worth Rs 50,000 was recovered and one accused was arrested using electronic surveillance.
The SSP further informed that action has been intensified against violations of tenant verification norms and under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.
Since December 2025, 18 FIRs have been registered, including seven against SPA owners, with one booked for employing foreign nationals without valid work visas.
Lauding the efforts of the South Zone police teams, the SSP reiterated zero tolerance towards drug trafficking and organised crime and appealed to the public to cooperate with police by sharing information and strictly complying with legal provisions.
SP South and SDPO East were also present during the conference.
