JAMMU, Jan 29: The formal ground-breaking ceremony (Bhoomi Pujan) of Tathagat Global Gurukulam was held at the remote tribal village of Bheja Jangli under Gurur Development Block of Balod district in Chhattisgarh, marking a significant step towards strengthening education in tribal areas.
The ceremony was held in the presence of NP Singh, Chairman of the Indian Education Board and retired IAS officer, and GR Rana, former chairman of the Scheduled Tribes Commission.
Organized jointly by the Jakwar Foundation and Tathagat Trust with the objective of tribal development, the event witnessed the participation of hundreds of tribal villagers from the surrounding areas. Prior to the ‘Bhoomi Pujan’, obeisance was paid to Raja Rao Baba and Kankalin Mata, followed by the garlanding of the oil portrait of Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh.
Addressing the gathering, NP Singh said the Gurukulam aims to provide quality, free education to tribal and rural children living in the most remote regions and bring them at par with students from urban centres. He emphasized that the school would be developed on the lines of reputed institutions in Delhi and other major cities, combining academic excellence with moral values and life skills.
He informed that, besides regular education, the Gurukulam will offer personality development, career guidance, preparation for armed forces and central services, employment-oriented courses and training for women in cottage industries to promote self-reliance. Special opportunities will be provided to economically weaker but meritorious students.
Singh announced that construction of the school will begin in February, and expressed confidence that the institution would nurture future administrators, officers and leaders. The Gurukulam is expected to directly benefit children from Bheja Jangli and 10-12 nearby villages, bringing a wave of optimism across the tribal belt.
Several local representatives, including Sarpanch Sheela Yadav, panchayat members and prominent citizens, were present on the occasion.
