JAMMU, Jan 29: Police here at Domana area today claimed to have solved two theft cases by recovering stolen iron rods and drilling pipes after arresting two accused individuals.
A police official said the cases pertain to the theft of iron rods from an under-construction house and drilling pipes from a vehicle.
In the first case, he said, a complaint by one Ravinder Singh Bhau of Paloura led to the registration of FIR number 06/2026 at Police Station Domana under section 303(2) BNS, while in the second case, one Sunil Choudhary of Nowshehra, Rajouri reported the theft of drilling pipes from his vehicle parked at Muthi, Domana during the intervening night of 27/28 November 2025, following which FIR No. 20/2026 was registered under the same section.
During investigation of the twin cases, two individuals, identified as Sofian alias Thappa Pehelwan of Doda, presently residing at Nikki Tawi, and Shabaz Hussain alias Munna Choudhary of Nehru Market, Jammu, were arrested, said the police official.
He said during interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in both cases.
On their disclosure, police recovered iron rods worth about Rs 18,000 and 25 drilling pipes valued at around Rs 2 lakh, he said, adding that further investigation is underway to identify and arrest other involved persons, and more recoveries are expected.
