8th Masters National Games

JAMMU, Jan 29: In a remarkable achievement, Masters Weightlifting and Swimming teams from Jammu and Kashmir delivered an outstanding performance at the 8th Masters National Games held in Pune, Maharashtra from January 27 to 31. The event was organized by the Masters Games Association Maharashtra under the aegis of the Super Masters Games and Sports Federation (India) and saw participation from master athletes across the country.
The J&K weightlifters dominated their categories, bringing home five gold medals. Mohd Aslam won gold in the 67 kg category (40+ age group), Dayal Singh claimed gold in the 89 kg category (45+) and Parveen Kumar secured gold in the 89 kg category (40+). Dalvinder Singh added another gold in the 89 kg category (35+), while Naresh Kumar completed the golden haul in the 96 kg category (35+).
In swimming, Rudraksh Gupta impressed by winning two silver medals in the 200 metres individual medley and the 100 metres breaststroke, further enhancing the team’s overall medal tally.
Ranjeet Singh Chib, President of the Jammu and Kashmir Masters Games Association and former international handball player, expressed immense pride in the athletes, saying their success is a proud moment for the entire Union Territory and demonstrates that excellence in sports is ageless. General Secretary Neete Kaur congratulated the athletes for their dedication, noting that their achievements serve as an inspiration for aspiring sportspeople across the region.
