J&K UT Chess C’ship underway

JAMMU, Jan 29: In the ongoing J&K UT Chess Championship at IDPS School, Sunjwan, Sumit Grover, Aarav Gupta, Pazhany Kohli, Maxim Singh, Ashutosh Jamwal, Samyak Jain and Ravi Kumar are jointly leading after round 7. The tournament is organized by the All J&K Chess Association.
A total of 160 players from across J&K, including women, veterans and young participants, are competing in seven rounds under the Swiss system. The championship is held under the supervision of senior player SP Sharma, with Bindu Pathania as chief arbiter. Other arbiters include Ritish, Stuti Gupta, Arvindu and Romal.
Atul Kumar Gupta, Chairman of the Planning and Development Commission of the All India Chess Federation and Madhu Abrol, School Manager, were present during the matches, lending additional prestige to the event.
