CUJ hosts Intl seminar on ‘Security in Changing World Order’

JAMMU, Jan 30: The Department of National Security Studies (NSS), Central University of Jammu (CUJ), organized ICSSR sponsored two-day international seminar on “Security in the Changing World Order: Challenges and Responses”.
In his special remarks during the valedictory session, Vice Chancellor Prof Sanjeev Jain underscored the enduring principle that a nation has no permanent friends or enemies, but only permanent interests. He highlighted the need for citizens to remain aware, vigilant and committed to safeguarding national integrity, especially at a time when the country continues to confront the persistent threat of terrorism.
Prof Rajiv Nayan, Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, who was the guest speaker, offered an incisive analysis of the rapidly evolving world order and highlighted how shifts in global polarity, ongoing processes of securitization, and the persistent inevitability of conflicts define the contemporary international environment.
A major thrust of his address was the need for a fundamental transformation in India’s security mindset. He advocated cultivating a more assertive strategic posture, along with moving beyond conventional Western-centric security discourses that have long framed global strategic thinking.
In his special remarks, Prof Asit Mantri, Head of the Department of Educational Studies at CUJ, offered thought-provoking reflections inspired by the ideas of Sri Aurobindo Ghosh.
Dr Neeta Rani, HOD, NSS, CUJ, delivered a formal welcome address while Dr Anuradha, Assistant Professor, NSS, CUJ presented a summary of the seminar.
Earlier in the day, two technical sessions were held in which Dr Sitakanta Mishra, Dean, School of Liberal Studies, Pandit Deen Dayal Energy University, Gandhinagar; Dr N Koiremba, Senior Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, University of Delhi, New Delhi; Dr Prashant Pradhan, IDSA Fellow, New Delhi, and Dr Ellora Puri, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, University of Jammu, deliberated on the issues of non-traditional security aspects, global governance and populism and the changing world order.
Simultaneously, one parallel session was held which was chaired by Dr. Raosaheb Bhwaskar, National Law University, Aurangabad. In all the sessions across the seminar 30 participants including faculty members, research scholars and students from different institutes presented their research papers.
