Speaking to reporters, Sadiq said the Chief Minister had already assured that the budget would prioritise public welfare. He said the Government hoped to begin implementing key commitments outlined in the manifesto and take “important decisions” aimed at improving people’s lives.
He said that whenever a budget is presented, it is for the people. “Last time too, the budget was pro-people. We hope that some of the promises made in the manifesto will be implemented this time,” he said.
He said the NC Government had a five-year mandate and was committed to fulfilling its promises during this period. Referring to public concerns, he said people in Jammu and Kashmir were facing difficulties related to electricity and other basic issues and expressed hope that the budget would provide relief in these areas.
Sadiq also said the Chief Minister was holding consultations with a wide range of stakeholders, including legislators, business representatives, and students, to ensure the budget reflected public needs. “The Chief Minister himself is meeting everyone so that the budget is people-friendly,” he said.
Responding to claims by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that it would strongly challenge the Government during the budget session, Sadiq accused the party of making contradictory statements and alleged that it had failed to address public grievances in the past. He said the NC had received a clear mandate from the people of Jammu and Kashmir and would work to honour its commitments.
